Eastern Cape
  • Revitalising Victoria Hospital, Alice
    The challenge:
help improve the physical state of the hospital and its patient care.
  • ILIMA’s analysis after interaction with the Eastern Cape Department of Health was that a redevelopment at an estimated cost of R320 million was inappropriate. ILIMA team members led several workshops and, using an enterprise development model, guided stakeholders to:
    – identifying a vision of the finest level one care facility in the country,
    – a detailed view of the desired future,
    – an honest view of the current state of operations,
    – and an analysis of areas requiring attention. These were the absence of processes in administration and operations, of human resource practices, and the need for significant improvements to buildings and equipment and in patient care.
  • Following this support, visible improvements, both in physical terms and in the attitudes of the management team, have been noted. A potential sponsor has been identified for upgrading the hospital’s information and communications technology. ILIMA continues to support the revitalisation.
Old Mutual
  • Thank you for a most invigorating and energising two days. Give yourselves an A. I now have absolute belief in my team and its unflinching desire to succeed. There is nothing that will stand in our way to achieving our stated goals. With bright and shiny eyes.
Andile Ncontsa of Old Mutual Foundation.
Western Cape Department Social Development
  • A more systematic approach (is now used) in tackling issues, (there is) better planning and more consideration of linkages. Checking the quality of information has become very important and results in better reports.
Western Cape Department of Social Development, (C. Quickfall).
